Chu Wu spoke at our club on August 9 about the process of being nominated for the Most Outstanding Club of the Year Award.  Each year Rotary District 5040 select one of the current 51 clubs to receive this honour.  For the Rotary year 2012-13 President Kevin Gordon is determined to lead our club to win this Holy Grail!  In that light, President Kevin asked Chu to come to our club to share some of his insights.  Chris Bradshow thanked our guest speaker AG Chu Wu following his presentation.

To be nominated and receive the Most Outstanding Club of the Year in Rotary District 5040, a Rotary Club must qualify first for the RI Presidential Citation and apply for this citation on March 31, 2013.  On April 1, 2013, each of the 10 Assistant Governors will have the opportunity to nominate a club for this award.  The immediate PDG Hans will chair the committee with the District Membership and District Foundation Chairs to select one club for this award from among the nominations received.  On May 18, 2013, DG Rebecca MacPherson will announce the Most Outstanding Club of the Year and present the winning banner at the District Conference in Quesnel.  The winning club will then be able to proudly keep and display this "Stanley Cup" at its weekly meeting until the next District Conference.

In 2011-12, the Rotary Club of Burnaby received the Most Outstanding Club of the Year banner at the last District Conference in May 2012.  President Kevin was there to witness this event.  He envisions that the Rotary Club of New Westminster can and will achieve this honour in the 2012-13 Rotary Year!
